The crash took place around 5:40 p.m., Monday, May 24, north of exit 23 in Rocky Hill, said the Connecticut State Police.

According to state police, the crash was so intense they have been unable to determine who the driver is, or what kind of Ford vehicle they were driving when it slammed into a bridge abutment.

Before the crash, the driver was heading north on I-91 in the left lane when it left the highway, went into the grass median, hit a concrete bridge support before coming to rest on top of a guardrail, facing south, state police said.

“At this time, Operator 1 and Vehicle 1 have yet to be identified,” police said in a report.

Anyone who saw the crash or may have been driving a vehicle with a dash camera is asked to contact Trooper John Wilson at the Troop H barracks at 860-534-1098 or john.wilson@ct.gov.
